Кокрейн ответила на критику обзора папилломавирусной вакцины: Арбин и другие не нарушили правил финансирования
Арбитры по финансовым вопросам рассмотрели многочисленные жалобы и решили, что «Arbyn did not breach the organisation’s policy on commercial sponsorship.
They did not deny the claim that Arbyn (along with 19 others) was an adviser to the HPV Prevention and Control Board, nor that the working costs of the board were provided by vaccine manufacturers (GSK Biologicals, Merck, Abbott, Sanofi Pasteur, and MSD), nor that the members of the board were paid travel and subsistence for attending meetings.
But they ruled that because the money was provided through the University of Antwerp from funds derived from multiple sources, according to university rules, the payments did not constitute a conflict of interest. As for VALGENT, they said that it was the researcher’s home institute that received payment and that individuals such as Arbyn did not benefit financially. Companies providing the kits and the funds may see and comment on the programme’s evaluation, but “these comments are not necessarily accepted and the company cannot prevent publication.”
The unanimous conclusion was that “there is no evidence that Marc Arbyn has gained personal financial benefit from either organisation” and has therefore not breached Cochrane policy on commercial sponsorship.
Tom Jefferson, coauthor of the BMJ Evidence-Based Medicine paper, said that the finding was unconvincing. “No one to my knowledge has ever asserted that Arbyn has enriched himself (‘gained personal financial benefit’). If that is the standard of the Cochrane policy, then it is yet another piece of evidence that it is an organisation that does not live in the real world. Organisations such as the HPV [Prevention and Control] Board peddle influence and orthodoxy—they are pharma sponsored advocacy groups under a layer of science.

Представленная информация и записи полностью игнорируют аргументы и позицию Питера Гоче, и никому из оппонентов слово предоставлено не было. Для меня совершенно анекдотичным в презентации вебинара было то, что члены Совета оправдывали принятое решение, а о стратегии развития и о будущем говорил исполнительный директор Вильсон, манагер, ничего не знающий и не понимающий ни в академии, ни в систематизации научного знания.
Вопросы и ответы интересно почитать. Исказить вопросы, вероятно, было трудно, но кокрейновские бюрократы постарались, имея возможность подумать над ответами. Тем не менее, их ответы сплошь и рядом выглядят неубедительно. Например, вослед к другим вопросам (что он плохого сделал? — писал письма на бланке Кокрейновского центра) задается вопрос: так он же писал письмо автору исследования с просьбой предоставить данные, на каком жу бланке ему было писать? Ответ: надо правильно выбирать бланк (с. 9, первый вопрос)
